Thrifty Mom

Ever since I became a mom, it became harder for me to go to shopping malls because I want to buy every cute dress and top I see for my daughter.
I always have to remind myself that she's growing really fast and there's no point investing in an RM 80.00 dress which she will wear once or twice vs all the items I can get with that one dress. It's also so much harder with girls because everything is too cute. Designers are becoming smarter and making cute dresses with attached handbags and pockets so sucker moms like me can't resist.

I actually prefer to buy tops and leggings for her so it's easier to send her to the nursery - no double or triple thinking too long, just chuck her clothes in. It's only when I noticed her clothes begin to show signs of wear and tear that I will look for new clothes.

But time to time there's always irresistible great bargains... like these clothes for 50% off from normal price. What's a mom to do but not resist haha. The tops were RM 10.00 each. Daddy's Little Sunshine with the pants was RM 10.00, and the tutu top/skants was RM 15.00. From Tesco!

I was out shopping the other day with my mom and younger brother...

And me and my mom ended up at the shoe section for more than an hour. Oh gosh.

Loving the leopard-printed taselled loafers, the bejewelled heels, and the cat flats. Meow.

Somewhere along the line, a little cretin fell asleep. Pfft. I don't get why little boys don't enjoy the thrills and perks of shopping.

I love the white flats in the picture oh goshh.

And then... I saw the most cutest, gorgeous little pair of shoes:

Alahaiiii so comel hehehe.
Must be something to do with the fact that I went to see Thara's gorgeous baby, Adeena Nur, the next day.

20. the last remnants of palembang

I had to do a three-part post of Palembang for fear of it being too draggy, as well as the pictures lagging. You can view post 1 and post 2 by clicking the respective links for better understanding of the mini getaway I did. To recap, my trip there was to attend a family ceremony for my baby nephew, called "cukur jambul" (the baby's very first haircut, snipped by close family members).

Day before the event: These "flower boards" were sent from companies as a congratulatory token. My brother and sister-in-law received around 4 of these huge boards. The "higher" you are in the social ladder, the more boards you will receive.

I decided to wear a slightly unorthodox outfit, pairing my old batik skirt with a black lace top from bajugraphy.

Me, my sister-in-law's sister, my sister-in-law holding her son (my nephew), and my sister-in-law's sister-in-law holding her daughter.

The batik skirt was getting very uncomfortable after 6 hours of wearing it soooo I whipped it off and paired comfy leggings. This was when the guests had left. I'm with my sister-in-law, my nephew, and my brother.

Me with my cute baby nephew! The cukur jambul dais was very grand.

I love this little girl's cute pink jubah! You can see from two pictures above her mom was wearing a matching one. Super sweet :)

And the above are some of the gorgeous clothes I purchased for myself from Palembang. A girl's gotta spoil herself sometimes!

The trip to Indonesia was wonderful. I just wish we had more time because everything was compacted into a 3d/2n trip =( But the food was amazing. There was so much photos to go through at the end of the trip. The only bummer was being stuck in transit from Jakarta to KL at the Jakarta airport because one of the Garuda people failed to notify AirAsia (our connecting flight from JK to KL) that we had a connecting flight, so we had to wait for our luggage at the luggage carousel instead of it being transferred directly by them. We waited at the airport for almost 6 hours, and they finally paid for another flight, courtesy of Garuda. We were of course, given a complimentary night stay at a really nice hotel, albeit dodgy on the outside, with free dinner before our flight the next morning!

Cheap things + little gestures goes a long way.

I went to my mom's new house in Putrajaya today, and it seems to be a really nice neighborhood. There are no fences, everything is open air concept. Thieves would probably have a ripe picking, but I do not think they will attempt it as police surveillance is medium, and all the neighbours are the types you see from The Stepford Wives.

The back of the house. You can walk your dogs here or whatever.

The neighbour's awesome porch. It's a really nice place to relax and drink tea after work.

My mom's gorgeous dining table!

He came over the other day to the house, and I was utterly thrilled to find this at my dresser when I went into my room. Such a small present but it really warmed my heart! I used to be the girl who did not like flowers, thought it was an absolute waste to buy something that eventually would rot anyway, but I guess it is different when it is from someone you have given your heart to.

Typical shisha session we had at this new place called Damascus Gates which was good the first time, but it sucked so much the second time round. Bleurgh. The architecture is very fanciful, though.

Scary cat lady.. Only joking, this is Sha.

Lunch at Kenny Rogers in Times Square. Man alive! I love chicken.

http://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/yjunee/blogger/DSC_0025.jpg
My three sidedishes. I loveloveloooove their potato salad, and this is probably the only place where I don't like the chicken much.

The bf's plate. The pasta thingy was horrible, eurghhh. Sorry baby, my three sidedishes were way better and slightly cheaper!

I found these two cheap tops I purchased in Times Square; yesss I admit, I'm a cheapskate when it comes to clothes. I would rather spend RM 100 on 5 dresses than RM 100 on a single dress from a "high end" store. End of the day, you only wear it less than 5 times, they are both mass produced, and it's not like people even see your label. Working in retail for close to two years made me realized; no matter the brand name, they all are usually made from China or Mexico, with cheap fabrics.
